Missy is often soaked from the rain as she wheels her bike in weekday mornings, but she is our source of sunshine at the office! A passionate food enthusiast (but don’t call her a foodie), hot sauce and mustard connoisseur, and lover of karaoke and board games, Missy finds the fun in every situation but has a steely work ethic. She studied Broadcast Journalism at BCIT, led a 10-year career working in unscripted TV, and worked a wide variety of TV series, but it’s her purpose in life—asking questions and sharing stories—that makes her True Calling episodes so popular.

What is it that you really do?

No day is ever the same! Researching interesting people and their stories. Connecting with subjects. Scheduling. Location outreach and scouting. Formulating creative treatments. Working with DOP and production team to tell our subjects stories. Interviewing. Writing titles and descriptions for our website and social media. Working with our post-production team to shape the edit. And more.

What breakfast kickstarts your day?

Overnight oats with berries, turmeric and ginger, vanilla protein powder and banana.

What’s your favourite thing to wear to work?

Tropical patterned pants.

What would your 16-year-old self think of you now?

“You’re doing pretty alright.”

What keeps you up at night?

Lists! I’m kind of neurotic. Whether it’s personal or work, I’m always trying to keep organized and I don’t want to drop the ball.

What was the best decision you’ve ever made?

Looking back, I feel like my life shifted when I started practicing yoga. I think it’s helped me slow down and shift to living life more in a more mindful way—which has made life even more awesome.

What is your favourite quote?

I just love Julia Child. I’ve got two gems from her:
“Find something you’re passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.”
“A party without cake is just a meeting.”
